Two Undocumented Immigrants Arrested In Katy Charged With Human Smuggling

KATY, TX — Two men who were arrested while transporting six undocumented immigrants in two separate cars earlier this week, appeared in court Wednesday.

Jorge Hernandez and Denis Caballero, who are in the U.S. illegally, are facing charges of human smuggling.

The men were arrested on Monday after they were pulled over and found with three undocumented immigrants in each of their vehicles, officials said

The incident happened just two days after 10 undocumented immigrants died in an overheated tractor-trailer after they’d crossed the Mexican border and were being smuggled into the U.S. from several Latin-American countries.

The men and women who were in the cars with Caballero and Hernandez told investigators that they’d also crossed the border on foot and were picked up in a tractor-trailer with a larger group, before splitting into smaller groups, KTRK reported.
