Chili cook-off to help support TAMRA Learning Academy (kdhnews.com) — A new chili cook-off is coming to Temple on Oct. 24 to raise money for roof and infrastructure upgrades at TAMRA Learning Academy on South 33rd Street. Local restaurants, home cooks, and sponsors are invited to compete, sample, and support students with diverse learning needs through an afternoon of food, music, and family activities.
2. Temple Fire Department upgrades stations as population expected to grow by almost 28,000 next decade (kxxv.com) — Temple's Fire Department is rebuilding and upgrading several stations, including new construction for Stations 2, 4, 7, and 9, to keep up with rapid population growth. Officials say the added resources and strategic station placement will help maintain response times and reduce strain on firefighters as Temple adds an estimated 28,000 residents over the next decade.
3. City of Temple Accepting Applications for 80th Annual Christmas Parade (fox44news.com) — Temple is now taking applications for its 80th annual Christmas Parade, set for Monday, December 7, 2026, with an "An 80s Christmas" theme. Entries must be non-commercial, holiday-themed, and pet-free, and applications are reviewed first-come, first-served before the November 3 deadline.
4. Temple fire stations get $3 million in renovations (kwtx.com) — Temple Fire and Rescue is getting more than $3 million to overhaul Fire Stations 2 and 4, improving weatherproofing, bunk rooms, and protective gear storage for firefighters working 24-hour shifts. Station 2 is already under construction, and city council is expected to consider the bid for Station 4 this week, shaping how well local crews can serve residents.
5. Killeen father killed in Temple crash was minutes from work, family says (kwtx.com) — A 26-year-old father from Killeen was killed Friday in a two-vehicle crash at Northwest H.K. Dodgen Loop and Industrial Boulevard in Temple, and police are still investigating. His death is renewing scrutiny of safety along Loop 363 as TxDOT reviews crash data, while his family turns to fundraising to cover unexpected funeral and burial costs.
