Today's riddle: What do you call a one-legged Big Foot? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• GoFundMe supporting elderly couple from Texas shut down due to violation (fox5atlanta.com) — A high-profile GoFundMe campaign created by a The Colony neighbor to help 81-year-old Don Johnson cover his wife's cancer bills has been shut down for violating the platform's terms of service, with all donations refunded. Johnson, who delivers lost luggage to support his wife's treatment, had received more than $280,000 before the removal, and GoFundMe has not yet detailed what specifically triggered the violation finding.
• 81-year-old Texan hauled lost luggage up to 14 hours a day for wife's cancer bills. Strangers raised $600K+. Will Medicare leave you exposed? (moneywise.com) — An 81-year-old The Colony resident has been working 12- to 14-hour days delivering lost luggage from DFW Airport to help pay for his wife's pancreatic cancer treatment, until a neighbor's video and GoFundMe raised more than $700,000. His story highlights how Medicare and traditional insurance can still leave seniors with crushing out-of-pocket cancer costs, and explains options like Medigap and Medicare Advantage that cap expenses.
• GoFundMe pulls viral $745K campaign for 81-year-old luggage deliverer (miamiherald.com) — A viral GoFundMe that raised about $745,000 after a The Colony neighbor's video showed 81-year-old Donald Johnson hauling luggage for his wife's cancer bills has been removed for "factual misrepresentations," with all donors refunded. GoFundMe says the organizer falsely posed as a neighbor but was actually Johnson's daughter, who has now launched a new fundraiser on another platform under her real name.
