Victoria council advances $241.7M budget, tax rate (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria residents are a step closer to a $241.7 million city budget and a property tax rate of $0.4538 per $100 valuation, after council advanced both toward final approval. Council also moved forward on a new stormwater drainage utility fee, tightened data center rules near homes, expanded the Gary Moses Community Center project, and filled Planning Commission seats.
   

2. Student report prompts safety response at STEM Middle School (crossroadstoday.com) — STEM Middle School in Victoria saw an increased law enforcement presence Wednesday morning after students quickly reported a concerning statement from a classmate during arrival. Officials say there was no active or known threat, classes continued as normal, and Victoria ISD is urging students to keep speaking up whenever they see or hear potential safety issues.
   

3. Victoria man arrested on felony warrants, drug charge (victoriaadvocate.com) — Law enforcement in Victoria County arrested a 32-year-old Victoria man on two felony warrants after responding to a home on Nursery Road. Jail records also list a separate second-degree felony drug possession charge, which could carry two to twenty years in prison if convicted, though the man remains presumed innocent while the case proceeds.
   

4. Tigerettes win streak reaches 19 (victoriaadvocate.com) — Local volleyball fans saw mixed results as Goliad swept Victoria West and St. Joseph's Lady Flyers handled Victoria East in straight sets, with more non-district action coming Friday. Victoria West will try to rebound at home against Port Lavaca-Calhoun, while East heads to Beeville and St. Joseph prepares to host Cuero next week.
