Keep Victoria Beautiful launches "Tier II" beutification grants for bigger projects (crossroadstoday.com) — Property owners and organizations in Victoria can now seek larger "Tier II" Keep Victoria Beautiful grants of up to $5,000 for visible exterior improvements like lighting, signage, and awnings. Applicants must match at least half the funding, and projects must enhance public beautification; details and applications are available through the city's KVB webpage.
2. Keep Victoria Beautiful creates scholarships for students (crossroadstoday.com) — Students in Victoria who've volunteered with Keep Victoria Beautiful can now apply for up to five new $1,000 scholarships, funded by local sponsors. Applications open Dec. 1 and require a short video proposing a community beautification or environmental project, plus proof of participation in at least two KVB cleanups or events in the past year.
3. Victoria County commissioners approve airport, construction projects (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria County commissioners just approved a series of projects affecting local infrastructure, including airport equipment, a bridge replacement, and work on the new Mental & Behavioral Health Facility. They also advanced public health grants, juvenile justice contracts, and budget amendments, while recognizing local schools and officials for their contributions to county programs.
4. Victoria crime steady as assaults, vehicle thefts rise (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria's overall serious crime is nearly unchanged from last year, but aggravated assaults and motor vehicle thefts have climbed noticeably, even as burglaries, thefts, rape, and robbery have declined. August's Class 1 crime total was well below the five-year average, giving residents a mixed picture of improving property crime but rising violence and car thefts to stay alert to.
5. Victoria County: August 2026 Divorce Filings (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria County residents can see a full list of divorce filings recorded in civil court during August 2026, including many familiar local surnames. The brief report simply documents which couples filed, offering a snapshot of recent family-law activity affecting neighbors across the county.
