Today's riddle: What did the wall say to the other wall. 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Waco Salvation Army Expands Cooling Center Hours Amid Dangerous Texas Heat Wave (kwtx.com) — If you need a break from the triple-digit heat, The Salvation Army's cooling center at 300 Webster Ave. in downtown Waco is open daily when the heat index hits 100, offering water, snacks, and air conditioning. The group is also seeking bottled water, box fans, and financial donations, and can help eligible Waco residents with high electric bills through its Waco Drive social services office.
2. Waco police: One dead, one hurt in shooting Sunday (star-telegram.com) — Waco police say a Sunday evening shooting on North 20th Street left 28-year-old Victor Jesus Silva-Delgadillo dead and a teenage male wounded, with the teen expected to recover. Two men are jailed on related felony charges, and investigators believe everyone involved knew each other while still asking residents to share tips with Waco Police or Crime Stoppers.
3. FTC Approves Final Consent Order in Ascension Health-AmSurg Deal (ftc.gov) — A new Federal Trade Commission order forces Ascension to divest an AmSurg ambulatory surgery center serving the Waco metro, aiming to keep outpatient surgery prices in check and protect care quality. The ruling targets competition concerns in several cities and requires advance notice of future surgery-center acquisitions near the divested sites.
4. Traci Angela Tate, 50 (koxe.com) — Family and friends are mourning 50-year-old Traci Angela Tate, who died in Waco on August 17 and whose life bridged Chicago, California, Abilene, and years of connection to Central Texas. Remembered for her faith, music, and warmth, she married her husband Reginald in Waco in 2015; services will be held Thursday in Abilene with burial in Coleman.
