• Baylor students gain free access to 10 Waco Public Transit routes (baylorlariat.com) — Baylor students can now ride all 10 Waco Public Transit fixed routes for free for a full year, simply by showing a Baylor ID. Funded by Student Body Government, the pilot aims to help students without cars reach groceries, doctors and downtown while also encouraging them to explore more of Waco beyond campus. Riders can track buses through the Waco Transit System app.
   

• 'Women in America always call police': Man threatened to take baby to Mexico after assaulting mother, police say (kwtx.com) — A Waco-area woman told police her partner assaulted her repeatedly, blocked her from leaving with their two-month-old baby, and threatened to take the child to Mexico if she called 911. Lacy Lakeview officers later arrested 26-year-old Elibardo Gonzales, who now faces multiple charges and is being held in McLennan County Jail with an immigration detainer in place.
   

• Washington murder suspect held in McLennan County (fox44news.com) — A 21-year-old man wanted in connection with a New Year's Day killing in Tacoma, Washington is now being held at the McLennan County Jail in Waco. U.S. Marshals arrested Barkai Ben Israel Brinson and booked him Thursday morning, and he remains in custody while authorities arrange his transport back to Washington state. Local officials have not released details on why he was in this area.
