No injuries were reported, and Baylor officials say cleanup is underway while affected students receive temporary relocation and support as repairs are completed.
2. Centex roundup: Waco High earns Martinez's first win, Robinson survives nail-biter (wacotrib.com) — Waco High finally snapped its long losing streak, giving coach Esrom Martinez his first win as the Lions edged Granbury 28-24 behind Eric Taylor's late touchdown run. Robinson, La Vega, Oglesby, Rosebud-Lott, Reicher and Texas Wind also delivered big performances, showcasing a strong opening stretch for Central Texas high school football programs that Waco fans closely follow.
3. Waco man indicted on charges involving more than $300,000 in alleged theft (kcentv.com) — A 45-year-old Waco man has been indicted in McLennan County on felony charges alleging more than $300,000 in misappropriated fiduciary funds and theft, plus two counts of credit card abuse. Beverly Hills police and the McLennan County District Attorney's Office investigated the case, and city officials plan a press conference to explain the allegations and next steps.
4. True North 2026 Artist Profile Robbie Barber (houstonheights.org) — A longtime Baylor University sculpture professor based in Waco is being highlighted for his imaginative, architecture-inspired works, including past pieces like an oversized baby carriage and a mobile-home-turned-spacecraft. His career spans national exhibitions and major arts fellowships, but he continues teaching and creating from right here in Waco, drawing on rural American architecture for playful, poetic sculptures.
