City of Waco invites community to help shape visitor economy (fox44news.com) — Waco residents, business owners, and community partners are being asked to help shape a new five-year tourism strategy that could influence jobs, local businesses, and quality of life. Through the Waco Forward planning process, Destination Waco and a local steering committee are gathering input via a stakeholder survey and meetings this fall, ahead of a final plan going to city leaders in early 2027.
2. Methodist Children's Home to build 22-unit complex for youth aging out of foster care (kwtx.com) — Methodist Children's Home in Waco is building a new 22‑unit residential complex on 5th Street to house young adults aging out of foster or group care. The project, complementing existing housing on its Waco campus and at Clay Commons, will offer on‑site support and community spaces, with construction starting in November and opening planned for January 2028.
3. Retired Waco Police K9 honored with Star of Texas Award (kcentv.com) — A retired Waco Police Department K9 named Andor has been honored with the Star of Texas Award after surviving multiple gunshot wounds suffered while tracking a suspect in 2025. Andor, who has since been medically retired, was recognized alongside his handler, Sergeant Bucher, for courage and service to the Waco community.

Tesla Sets October 1 Roadster Reveal in Waco After Years of Delays (techengage.com) — Waco will host Tesla's long-delayed second‑generation Roadster reveal on Thursday, October 1, with an exclusive evening event for invited reservation holders. Locals can expect global attention as Tesla highlights its flagship sports car near SpaceX's McGregor site, though details on livestreaming, pricing, and production timing remain uncertain.
5. Canadian alcohol ban threatens Waco liquor store's bottom line (kxxv.com) — A Waco liquor store owner says President Trump's new ban on Canadian alcohol imports could significantly cut into his sales, especially popular Canadian whiskies like Crown. With a September 29 deadline looming and recent orders already delayed, he's worried current stock may be all he can offer local customers until the situation changes.
