Harmony Science Academy-Carrollton Student Selected for Prestigious Bezos Scholars Program
Leonardo Silva recognized nationally for leadership, mentorship, and advocacy supporting multilingual students and families
[CARROLLTON, Texas] - The Bezos Scholars Program is proud to announce Harmony Science Academy-Carrollton student Leonardo Silva and educator Ms. Anna Barrientos are part of the 2026 Scholars cohort. The Bezos Scholars Program inspires and challenges young people and educators from their schools to address issues they are passionate about in their communities.
The applicant pool is competitive; this year, twelve Scholars represent seven states. Scholars are chosen based on commitment to their education, demonstrated leadership abilities, willingness to embrace challenges, and the desire to create positive change in their communities.
Leonardo Silva, an 11th grader at Harmony Science Academy-Carrollton, has been actively involved in student leadership, HOSA, and community service initiatives throughout high school. One of his most impactful efforts was co-founding his campus ESL Tutoring Club, which supports students facing language barriers and academic stress through tutoring, mentorship, and confidence-building. Through the Bezos Scholars Program, Leonardo plans to expand the initiative into a multilingual and multigenerational mentorship network connecting students and families with academic support, mentorship, and community resources.
