Harmony Science Academy-Waco Cheer Team Takes the Court During Baylor vs. TCU Game
Elementary cheer squad dazzles crowd during halftime of Baylor vs. TCU matchup

(WACO) – Students from Harmony Science Academy-Waco lit up the court with an electrifying halftime performance during Thursday night’s Baylor vs. TCU women’s basketball game on Feb. 12, performing in front of thousands of fans at the Ferrell Center. The appearance marked one of the largest stages the elementary squad has performed on to date.

The elementary cheer team’s routine showcased weeks of preparation, as students spent afternoons perfecting choreography, building confidence and strengthening teamwork skills that extend far beyond the basketball court.
“This opportunity is honestly a huge honor, and it’s been amazing to see how much effort they’ve put into preparing for halftime, rehearsing after school and even on their own time,” said Head Cheer Coach Gloria Tonche. “They’ve also done a great job balancing school and keeping their grades up, and for our fifth graders, this experience is extra special as they prepare to move on from Harmony Science Academy next year.”
The squad built momentum through standout community performances across Waco, including the Christmas Parade and earning third place at the Día de los Muertos Parade. Those showcases sharpened their skills and boosted confidence for their biggest stage yet.
"Performing at a Baylor vs. TCU game is an incredible honor for our elementary cheer team and a powerful opportunity for our students to showcase their hard work and school spirit on a major collegiate stage," said Assistant Coach Dr. Kendrick Taylor. “This experience builds confidence, creates lifelong memories and exposes our scholars to a higher-education environment.”
For the students, Thursday night was filled with excitement and pride.
“I feel happy performing at Baylor because there will be a lot of people, and I love sharing my dance moves with everyone,” said fourth-grade co-captain Alizae G.
For Harmony Science Academy-Waco, the moment represented more than a halftime show — it was a celebration of preparation, dedication and a dream-come-true opportunity.
