2018 North American Ironman Triathlon Happens This Weekend

Thousands are expected to attend The Woodlands Ironman Race. Plea ahead if you're driving.

THE WOODLANDS, TX — Biking, swimming, and a 26-mile marathon are all on tap for this 2018 Memorial Hermann Ironman North American Championships happening in The Woodlands this Saturday.

The athletes begin checking in at 5 a.m. with the professional athletes starting off first at 6:25 a.m., followed by the age group rolling start at 6:40 a.m.

The triathlon typically draws thousands of spectators to The Woodlands, who flock to North Shore Park for the swim portion, or station themselves along the 26.2 marathon route which takes place entirely within The Woodlands and ends at Waterway Avenue.

The bike portion — a 112 miles trip — begins in The Woodlands and meanders into North Harris County and onto the Hardy Toll Road for two loops.

Those segments of the toll road are closed to traffic, so the best viewing for the race will be Lake Robbins Drive.
