• Houston abandons plans to annex The Woodlands after a $50 million deal (iowaparkleader.com) — Houston has permanently given up the right to annex The Woodlands in exchange for $50 million in regional funds and new payments from the township through 2029. In return, The Woodlands gains open-ended protection from annexation and will keep more of its sales tax revenue starting in 2030, potentially adding about $4.5 million a year for local priorities.
