Houston Northwest Chamber Hires Economic Development Director

HOUSTON, TX —The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce has announced Robert “Bobby” Lieb as the new economic development director of the Cypress Creek Community and its Grow Northwest Campaign.

Lieb will assume responsibility for business recruitment and retention, community marketing and Grow Northwest Project implementation.

“We are tremendously excited to welcome Bobby to our community,“ says Barbara Thomason, President of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, “As he is ramping up very quickly, we anticipate he will fill a very important void we have had since the beginning of this community."

Lieb held a similar position in Durango, Colorado, where he spent an extensive amount of time working for the community and their economic development, serving as the executive director of both the La Plata Economic Development Action Partnership and the Durango Chamber of Commerce. Lieb also worked in commercial development in Durango, overseeing the development of a 200-acre business park in that community.

Most recently, he served as a La Plata County Commissioner and the general manager for Durango Threadworks, overseeing the properties for that enterprise.

Lieb has already become a valuable resource for Houston community leaders like Greater Houston Partnership, Governor’s Office of Economic Development and local developers.

His next step is to attend the 2017 Annual Association of Water Board Directors Conference at the end of the month to make more connections and expand his knowledge of the local framework.

“Water district operators are some of the most influential players in our community. I hope this conference will help us see how we can better cooperate to improve the livelihood of our communities” Lieb said.
