Deputies Shoot Man Who Fired Gun In Cypress Emergency Room

Man fired several shots into ceiling before walking out of hospital and being confronted by deputies.

CYPRESS, TX --Two off-duty Harris County deputies who were working security at a Cypress at a Cypress area hospital shot a 21-year old man who pulled out a gun and began shooting while waiting inside the hospital’s emergency room.

The shooting happened at the North Cypress Medical Center, located at 21214 Northwest Freeway at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Harris County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Cedrick Collier, the 21-year old man was inside the emergency room in the waiting area when he got up from his seat and fired several gunshots into the ceiling.

The man left the emergency room and walked outside where he was confronted by deputies who ordered him to drop his gun.

The man, who still has not been identified, turned and pointed his weapon at the deputies, who fired at him.

He was taken back into the hospital and was listed in critical condition, but is expected to recover.
