Off-Duty Deputy Kills Raising Cane's Robbery Suspect

The investigation continues into the shooting death of a robbery suspect in The Woodlands area at Raising Cane's.

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The investigation continues into the shooting death of a robbery suspect killed by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy at a at a Raising Cane's in Shenandoah Tuesday night.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s detectives have yet to release the identity of the slain suspect, who died at the scene. According to Eyewitness News, the shooting played out in front of a restaurant full of customers. The armed suspect reportedly walked into the store in the 1500 block of Research Forest Drive just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and grabbed a female employee when he was confronted by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy hired for security following a string of robberies targeting Raising Cane's in the region.

"Officer Skip, that's the guy who saved the day,” Employee Bralin Henderson told Eyewitness News. “He came in and he pretty much you know he pretty much had the gun out, like, you know 'drop the weapon' because he had his hand on a gun and he was like, 'no, I'm not going to hurt her' that was his exact words and he said, "I said drop the weapon." And he still wouldn't listen and he fired five times into his chest at point blank range."

Several questions remain for detectives including whether the black-clad suspect had an accomplice or get-away driver.

According to The Houston Chronicle, two employees were also hospitalized with minor injuries. The shooting marks second time in recent months that an alleged robber was killed at a business in Montgomery County.
