Family Working to Free Woodlands Man Wrongfully Jailed in Dominican Republic
Man who leased the boat used it to smuggle cocaine, leave owner and crew to take the rap.

THE WOODLANDS -- A family of a Woodlands man who was wrongfully arrested and charged with narcotics smuggling in the Dominican Republic is working through political channels to free their loved one, and bring him back home.
For 11 months, Larry Davis, 43, has been locked in a prison in the Dominican Republic for a crime he didn’t commit.
By all accounts, Larry Davis is a family man who does right and is personable and easy going.

For years, Larry and his father, Quentin Davis ran a fuel trading business together, but all of that changed more than year ago when Larry’s mother was diagnosed with leukemia.
They decided to lease out the supply boat.

In March 2016, Davis got a call that he needed to come to the Dominican Republic to have the boat inspected.
The inspection led to the discovery of 985 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside the vessel.
Police in the Dominican Republic arrested the crew, but the man who’d leased the boat from Davis had vanished, and soon afterward, Davis was also arrested.
"In the beginning, I just kept thinking this is crazy, he will be home soon, they know the facts," Davis’ wife Stacy told KHOU.
His father, Quentin referred to his son as a political prisoner, and have contacted U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady and Sen. John Cornyn for help.
A lot has changed since Larry was imprisoned.
His mother lost her battle with leukemia and his sons, ages 12 and 9 years old, are anxious to see their dad.
Meanwhile, state department officials have visited Larry and are attending hearings, and are waiting for Larry’s trial date, which has not yet been set.
"You just wonder where is truth and justice? It's not in The Dominican Republic," Stacy Davis said.
