Fire in Old Town Spring Burns Three Businesses

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Arson investigators believe Molotov Cocktails were used to start fires that burned three businesses in the heart of Old Town Spring early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out just before 4:30 a.m. at The Coin Shop at 209 Midway St.

Investigators said the Coin Shop , Chloe's, which is located next door and to the east of the Coin Shop, and Asian Antiques, which is on the other side of the Coin Shop, also sustained smoke and fire damage.

Several hour before the fire, owners of the Coin Shop were called there for an alarm.

He arrived with a Harris County sheriff's deputy and found broken glass.

He boarded up the business, and left, but had to return when the alarms sounded once again.

When he arrived, he found more windows had been broken out and the building was on fire.

Police in the area were able to respond quickly, and arrived with fire fighters who were able to quickly contain the fire before it consumed any of the businesses.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from the Coin Shop to determine if anything was taken from the business before the fire was set, and if they can determine the identity of the person who set the fire.

The Harris County fire marshal's office is asking anyone with information on the fire to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
Tipsters will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
