9 Arrested In Theft Ring By Harris County Deputies

SPRING, TX -- Nine people are in custody after they allegedly took an estimated $12,000 of merchandise from an AT&T store in Spring Wednesday night.

The theft happened at about 8 p.m. Wednesday at the store at Louetta Road and Kuykendahl Road.

Investigators said that a Harris County deputy was having his evening meal at a local fast food restaurant when he heard the call over his radio of a group of people taking merchandise from an AT&T store.

Witnesses told deputies that nine people came in and appeared to be very well organized, and scattered throughout the store and began taking merchandise off the shelves and displays, before going to the back of the store and taking several iPhones.

The deputy arrived and reportedly saw a large group of people running from the store, and immediately called for backup.

The group led deputies on a brief chase in four separate vehicles, and ultimately stopped a few blocks from the store and ran.

A few of those who ran were immediately arrested, while several others were tracked and later caught with the help of K9 deputies.

Deputies said that at least one of those suspects was bitten by a K9 deputy during the foot chase.

The case is under investigation.
