Investigators Bust Meth Ring In Northwest Houston

SPRING, TX — Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office who were responding to a burglary call seized more than 600 pounds of candy and lollipops laced with methamphetamine Monday morning.

Deputies were called to the 9200 block of Wallingham in the Colony Creek subdivision in Spring after neighbors reported that the home had been burglarized.

When deputies arrived, they found Evonne Mick and David Salinas leaving the home with the candy stuffed inside the trunk of the car, KPRC reported.

According to investigators the trunk was so full of the candy that it would not close completely, KTRK reported.

The candies were lollipops molded in the shape of Star Wars figures, Batman and other figures, investigators said.

Deputies said the seizure was made near a school and believe the sellers may have been targeting school children, KPRC reported.

Investigators found more of the meth-laced candy inside the house, and believe that is where it was manufactured, KIAH reported.

The meth-laced candies are believed to have a street value of about $1 million, investigators said.

Mick and Salinas were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substances, and remain in the Harris County Jail.
