Klein Collins Students Take Part in Job Shadow Program

The goal of Job Shadow Day is to prepare young people for the work force by exposing them to potential career pathways.

Klein, TX -- Nearly 300 Klein Collins students took part in the campus’ annual Job Shadow Day on Jan. 19. Students must submit applications and resumes to be considered for participation in real-world work experiences for the day. The goal of the program is to prepare young people for the work force by exposing them to potential career pathways.

“The job shadow program is truly amazing,” said Klein Collins principal Randy Kirk. “It allows students to experience something they normally wouldn’t be a part of.”

More than 20 areas of business were available for students to explore and learn about the different careers available. Students were able to see business practices in action, observe real-world scenarios, and participate in hands-on activities.

Businesses that participated included: Houston Methodist Hospital Willowbrook, ExxonMobil, S&V Surveying, Forterra, Lupher Surveying, Survtech, Harris County Commissioners Office Precinct 4, Hooks Airport, VCA Animal Hospital of Spring, Primrose School of Spring-Klein, H.E.B Spring Market, Best Buy of Spring, Lowe’s Spring, Sprouts Farmers’ Market of Spring, VLK Architects, SKF Solution Factory, Jetco, Gordon Foods, and Klein ISD Police Department.
