Klein ISD to Host First 'Girls in STEM'
Girls in grades 3-12 grade are invited to join the event on February 18 at the Klein ISD Multipurpose Center.
From Klein ISD: Klein ISD is excited to announce the first Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Day on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. Girls in grades 3-12 grade are invited to join the event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Klein ISD Multipurpose Center.
The multi-faceted day will feature more than two dozen amazing women eager to share their enthusiasm and experiences working in science, technology, and engineering. In addition to panel discussions for students in grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12, highlights of the day will be the hands-on, activity filled Exploration Room, and a lunch keynote address by Stephanie Schuttler, ecologist with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
Parents are welcome to join their daughters at the event as specific sessions will provide information about college resources, filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and how students can graduate with a STEM endorsement.
Breakfast, lunch, and a t-shirt featuring the event theme, STEM GEMS: Girls Empowered and Motivated to Succeed, will be provided free of charge to registered attendees. Register online here by Feb. 10, 2017.
