Man Pretending To Be A Cop Gets Arrested

TOMBALL, TX — A man that witnesses said identified himself to residents in a Tomball neighborhood as a police officer was charged with impersonating a public servant.

Deputies with the Harris County Constables Office were called on Sunday to the 20300 block of Yosemite Falls Drive after residents reported a suspicious man in the area.

Deputies arrived and found theman walking house to house within the subdivision knocking on doors.

The man identified himself to deputies as Lance McClendon, and according to a witness McClendon had identified himself as a police officer to residents.

McClendon also showed his passport to the witness, claiming that it was his police identification.

McClendon was arrested and taken to the Harris County Jail, where he was charged with a 3rd degree Felony for impersonation of a public servant.

His bond is set at $5,000.

"We urge our citizens to contact law enforcement if they have suspicions of a suspect impersonating a police officer," Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman said.
