Man Shot While Pursuing Five Who Broke Into His Home.

TOMBALL, TX -- Five people are in jail and one man is recovering from a gunshot wound after a home invasion and subsequent car chase Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, who was identified by authorities as “Sammy,” said a woman came to his door at about 2:30 p.m. and claimed they knew each other.

While the door was open, four men with guns burst through the door and made him lay on the floor while they ransacked his apartment.

As soon as they left, Sammy gave chase in his pickup, following the five who were in a black Honda Accord along FM 2978.

During the pursuit, shots were fired at the pickup by someone in the back seat of the Honda Accord.

Several of the bullets his pickup, and one of them hit Sammy in his upper arm.

"I was more mad than scared," he told KPRC. "I did not want them to get away with it."

Police began pursuing the Accord, which hit a curb and blew a tire.

All of the robbers, which included two juveniles, jumped from the car and ran, but were caught with the help of K-9 officers and aerial support from the Tomball Police Department.

Charges against the five are expected soon.

Sammy was treated for the gunshot wound to his arm, and released.
