Montgomery County Launches Fire Safety Initiative In Tamina Community
Firefighters, volunteers offers free installation of smoke detectors in homes, a month after three children are killed.

TAMINA, TX — A month after three members of a Montgomery County family were killed in a devastating house fire, Montgomery County firefighters, volunteers from the Tamina community, and officials with the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office worked together to install more than 500 smoke detectors in homes, free of charge.
The fire safety initiative was announced on June 3 by Montgomery County Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams and Needham Fire Chief Kevin Hosler in an effort to educate the public about the importance of fire safety in the home.

On May 12, Terrance, Kaila and Kyle Mitchell died when they became trapped inside their burning Tamina home. (Want to get daily updates about traffic news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)
Their brother, 10-year old Adrian Mitchell, was burned, but survived the fire.

On Saturday, the community honored the three Mitchell children, releasing white balloons in their memory, and then fanning our through the community to install smoke alarms, KPRC reported.
