Tomball Memorial HS Performs 'Sister Act'

The Tomball Memorial High School Fine Arts Department will perform Sister Act this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

TOMBALL, TX — Looking to do something different?

The Tomball Memorial High School Fine Arts Department is proud to present their third all campus musical, Sister Act.

Performances will take place at the Tomball Memorial High School Auditorium, 19100 Northpointe Ridge Lane, on Jan. 25-27, and on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m., and a matinee performance on Jan. 27 at 3 p.m.

Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy based on the 1992 film thst starred Whoopie Goldberg.

The production features original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, who also composed music for Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Shop of Horrors.

Additionally, Sister Act was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Sister Act is the story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier who witnesses a murder.

While in protective custody, authorities send her to the one place they are sure she will not be a found – a convent.

Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior.

Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community, but she blows her cover.

Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find that they are up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Filled with powerful music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story, Sister Act will leave audiences inspired by the true meaning of friendship.

Tickets are $20 at the door, and $10 for senior citizens.
