Tomball To See Leadership Changes In 2018
City Manager George Shackelford will retire in April, while Councilman Derek Townsend has announced he will not see re-electionin May.

TOMBALL, TX — Changes are on the horizon for the city of Tomball in 2018, with at least two key leadership changes happening in the coming months.
The latest was announced on Monday when Tomball City Councilman Derek Townsend announced he would not be seeking a fourth term.
Townsend, who was viewed early in his tenure as a bit of a firebrand on the council, said he plans to devote his time to caring for his wife who has been battling cancer and recently underwent surgery.

Townsend is the longest serving member of the city council, along with fellow councilman Mark Stoll, and Mayor Gretchen Fagan.
His term expires in May 2018.

Meanwhile, the biggest leadership change in the city will happen in the top when City Manager George Shackelford hangs up in April.
Shackelford who has served as the city manager since 2010, announced his intentions to the city council in October.
The city is currently looking for replacement candidates for Shackelford..
