The district also improved its transportation fleet, technology infrastructure, and enhanced security.

Tomball ISD also began a transition that included the addition of more STEM education opportunities, and provided avenues to help students begin working toward their associates degrees, through the early college program, which will be implemented in 2017-2018 school year.

Along the way, Kinchen remained, and still remains a proactive force, and in Tomball ISD education and in the lives of Tomball ISD students.

"It is of the utmost importance that we maintain our momentum as we persist in our quest to be the best," Kinchen said. "The timing of my announcement allows the board time to find the best candidate to continue to lead our district.

Kinchen said he is confident the board of trustees will find the best person to work with district, and that the amount of time will allow for a smoother transition for the new superintendent so that he or she can be involved in the planning process for the 2017-18 school year.

"As blessed as I have been in my career, I readily acknowledge that it’s the people I have worked with that have created opportunities for me to be successful," Kinchen said.
