Woman Crashes SUV Into Tomball Tax Office

TOMBALL, TX — Customers at the Harris County Tax Office got a bit of a surprise Friday morning when a Mercedes SUV crashed into the front of the building.

None of the customers inside the tax office were injured.

The accident happened shortly after 9:15 a.m., in the 100 block of Walnut Street in downtown Tomball.

The driver of the SUV, who was not identified, was pulling into the front of the building, and because she was wearing a walking boot on her right foot, accidently hit the accelerator instead of the brake, sending the SUV into the side of the building.

The crash caused some front end damage to her vehicle, and smashed the pull up doors on the side of the building.

Bruce Kissinger, who owns the Fire Ant Brewpub that is under construction on Market Street, was storing the brewing equipment in the storage area of the building behind the now twisted pull-up doors.

Kissinger said he didn’t know yet if the equipment had been damaged by the crash.

“I just don’t know,” he said. “There may have been some crates pushed around. If it was pushed back and hit one of the stainless steel fittings they may have cracked.”

The driver of the SUV was not injured, and was not charged.

The estimated cost of damages to the building is not known.
