The Woodlands Township Board Considers Cultural Arts Center
Results of a survey conducted in the fall indicate a cultural and arts center would be a welcomed addition to the Woodlands Community.
THE WOODLANDS, TX — The Woodlands Township Board of Directors is moving forward with the next phase in a study that could bring a museum and cultural arts center to the Northwest Houston community.
Earlier this year, the board of directors contracted with Webb Management Services to conduct a feasibility study, which included an online survey, to determine if The Woodlands community wants a cultural arts facility.
The online survey, as well as the second phase of the study were funded with $100.000 from the 2016 budget, according to a Houston Chronicle report. (Want to get daily updates about traffic news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)

In February 2006, the board contracted with Webb Management Services to conduct a feasibility study, but after nearly a year, the project failed to get off the ground.
This time, however, the board is hoping for a different outcome than in 2006.
Duncan Webb of Webb Management Services, said the survey indicated that the development of a cultural arts center had 80 percent approval from those who responded, the Chronicle reported.
Meanwhile, any future development of a cultural arts center would depended a host of factors, specifically the partnerships with the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, the Lone Star College System and private donors to help fund the project, as well as finding land for the center.
The completion of Phase II of the study, which will help determine the costs associated with the project, is expected to be completed either later this summer, or the start of fall.
