π± 16 Lbs Of Marijuana At Airport + Big Promises For Limetree
The quickest way to get caught up on news, events, and more in the USVI.
Let's start this Monday with everything you need to know going on across the territory. Before you start your work day, catch up on these stories I'm following:
- A man was arrested at the Cyril E. King Airport on Thursday after officials discovered sixteen pounds of marijuana in his checked luggage. The V.I. Dept. of Justice announced the arrest of Cameron J. Rolle of Orlando, Florida. Rolle had taken a Spirit Airlines flight from Orlando to St. Thomas. He was detained by U.S. Customs officials at the airport and ultimately arrested by the VIPD. Full story in the VI Consortium.
- West Indies Petroleum confirmed their commitment to finalizing their purchase of limetree Bay Refinery, as reported by the VI Consortium. The Jamaica-based company announced on Friday that they are pursuing plans to re-open the shuttered refinery and eventually double it's production, despite reports that they may not have the funds to complete the purchase. West Indies Petroleum also predicted that their investment in Limetree will one day reduce energy costs in St. Croix.
- The St. John Historical Society is excited about the donation of a three-acre parcel of land on the East End of St. John. The property is known as Pleasant Lookout and evidence suggests that the land was occupied by a number of St. John families for more than 130 years. How does it all come together? Find out in the Daily News.
