Here are the top stories in US Virgin Islands today:

  • V.I. Inspector General Steven van Beverhoudt's office has uncovered evidence of multiple government employees illegally collecting both a salary and a pension. In some cases, employees were double-dipping for more than a decade. (Virgin Islands Daily News)
  • Bankruptcy attorneys aren't painting a pretty picture for the future of the Limetree Bay oil refinery. They are warning that restarting production at the St. Croix facility could get bogged down in red tape. Specifically, it is unclear if the Environmental Protection Agency will issue new operating permits to any new owners. (V.I. Consortium)
  • The News of St. John has a nice write-up about The Fred, the boutique resort in Frederiksted. I, for one, did not know that the entire resort is "Adults Only," which suggests some eyebrow-raising fun, but really just means leave your noisy kids at home. Check out the full review. (News Of St. John)
  • The Swim, Bike, Run for Your Life Triathlon and Aquathlon is on Sunday, October 24. Don't miss this heroic event that includes an 800-meter swim, a 13-mile bike, and a 5K-run. The race starts at Cramer’s Park. (St. Croix Source)
