π± Fireman Died After Truck Lost Power + Thanksgiving Isn't Cheap

- The fireman who died in Monday's accident has been identified as Kasey Callwood. According to V.I. Fire Service Director Daryl George, the firetruck lost power as it was coming down "one of the most dangerous hills in Coral Bay." The driver struggled to regain control of the vehicle but it ultimately went over the ravine and flipped, killing Fireman Callwood and seriously injuring the driver, another firefighter. The Consortium reports that firefighters have made multiple complaints about the poor state of the fire trucks. (VI Consortium)
- The U.S. Department of Education approved the V.I. Department of Education's plan to spend $138 million to reopen schools, support access to in-person learning, and support students during and after the pandemic. (US Virgin Islands Patch)

- Three violent incidents in St. Thomas on Tuesday left two men dead and one man in critical condition. On Tuesday at 2:41 a.m., officers responding to a 911 tip discovered a 63-year-old man with severe injuries to the head and face from an apparent assault. He was found in Kronprindsens Gade in the vicinity of Catholic Charities and taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center. At 5:44 am, police responded to another 911 call about an unresponsive male in the Fortuna area. Officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds and no vital signs. Police have not yet released his identity. At 6:16 p.m. on Tuesday evening, VIPD responded to another 911 call reporting a man in need of assistance in an abandoned house near Kronprindsens Gade. Officers discovered an unresponsive male victim who appeared to have been shot multiple times. Emergency Medical Technicians confirmed that he did not have any vital signs. (VI Consortium)
- Virgin Islanders will pay about $33 more on Thanksgiving dinner this year than the average American. The Daily News visited grocery stores across St. Thomas and calculated that folks on-island will likely pay about $87.19 on food for Thanksgiving.
