U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS —Last week's arrests and police reports as released by the Virgin Islands Police Department:

On July 4, at approximately 11:48 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched units to a residence in Estate Peter’s Rest in reference to reports of a dead body. Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, they observed the lifeless body of a Black male laying on the floor inside an apartment. The body was partially decomposed, and the matter in which it was found appeared to be suspicious in nature. The deceased’s identity is being withheld pending positive notification from next of kin, and the cause of death is also being withheld, pending further investigation.

On July 4, at roughly 12:30 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Strand Street, Frederiksted to a reported robbery. The three adult victims reported that they had just arrived at their hotel when they were approached by an armed male suspect wearing a ski mask. The suspect demanded the victims’ belongings, and the suspect and another male also wearing a ski mask fled the area in the victims’ rental vehicle, a white 2019 Kia Sportage. The first male suspect was described as being about 6 feet 2 inches in height, very slender build, brown complexion, possibly 20-25 years old, wearing a black long-sleeved sweatshirt, blue jeans and wearing gloves. The second suspect was described as being 5 feet 11 inches in height, wearing dark clothing.

On July 7, at around 3:05 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of a two-car auto accident that occurred on Route 703, Orange Grove Road, in the vicinity of the former St. Dunstan’s Episcopal School. Officers traveled to the scene and discovered two vehicles, a 2000 Suzuki Vitara and a 2018 Ford F-150, were involved in a head-on collision. The investigation into the accident revealed the Ford F-150, traveling north, collided with the Suzuki Vitara, traveling south, in the southbound lane. The driver of the Suzuki Vitara was gravely injured in the accident, and was transported via ambulance to the Juan Francisco Luis Hospital & Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as 35-year-old Sito Martin of Constitution Hill.

On July 8, at approximately 8:54 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Four Winds Plaza in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned a male gunshot victim was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center via private vehicle. Witnesses reported hearing rapid gunshots, and seeing an unresponsive Black male on the ground. The victim received multiple gunshot wounds about the body.

On July 9, the Virgin Islands Police Department announced the identity of the previously unidentified victim of a shooting that occurred in Smith Bay on June 18. At approximately 11:20 p.m. that evening, the 911 Emergency Call Center was contacted by a concerned citizen who reported hearing multiple shots being fired and a male down in Smith Bay. Officers traveled to the scene and found two gunshot victims in the area. The first male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds about his body, and died on the scene. He was identified by family members as 42-year-old Camille W. King, Jr. The second male victim also suffered multiple gunshot wounds about his body. He was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment, however he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. He is now being identified as 24-year-old Yorbis Jesus Rico Alzura, a resident of Venezuela, South America.

On July 9, at roughly 1 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a Black male, stating that he was shot near his residence in Hospital Ground. Officers traveled to the area and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene and rendered medical assistance to the male’s injuries. The male was transported via ambulance to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for further medical attention.

On July 9, at approximately 10:21 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Estate Solberg in reference to shots being fired. Officers made contact with an adult Black male who reported being assaulted by another Black male with dreadlocks during a physical altercation. The victim stated after the assault, the suspect fled the area. Gunshots appeared to have been fired in the incident, but no one received any gunshot injuries. The victim was transported via ambulance to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries he sustained in the assault.

On July 10, at around 12:54 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of a one-car accident on Northside Road, in the vicinity of the Francis Water Company. The investigation into the accident revealed the female driver of a burgundy 2015 Acura ILX was traveling north at a high rate of speed, not wearing a seatbelt, lost control of the vehicle, and collided into a tree on the northern shoulder of the road. The driver, identified as Amaris Chew, age 34 of Estate Calquohoun, died at the scene.
