Police Identify Dead Woman Found On St. Croix, Suspect Homicide

The woman has been identified as Nancy Nieves, 59, of Estate St. John.

ST. CROIX, USVI — On June 1, the body of an unidentified adult female was found on the roadside in Estate St. John. At the time, police were unable to identify the woman or determine a cause of death.

According to the latest statement from the Virgin Islands Police Department, the victim has been identified as 59-year-old Nancy Nieves of Estate St. John. A follow-up autopsy showed that the woman was beaten to death. The case is now classified as a homicide and is being investigated by the Major Crime Unit.
