Suspect Shot By Police On St. John Arrested And Charged
Alex Louis Camsel is also accused of assaulting a female victim by hitting her with a rock.

ST. THOMAS, USVI —Alex Louis Camsel was released from Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center on Tuesday and immediately arrested. The Virgin Islands Police Department released a statement that said, "Camsel was shot by officers after he pointed a firearm at officers on April 23."

46-year-old Camsel of Estate Pastory, St. John has been charged with two counts of 3rd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Damage to Vehicle.

Police say that Camsel is also accused of assaulting a female victim by hitting her with a rock. After the alleged assault, the victim sought treatment from the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center. She reported the attack to the police.
"Officers responding to the location of the assault observed Camsel in possession of a rifle. Camsel was shot by an officer when he pointed the rifle at officers," the police report said.

Camsel was unable to post the $100,000 bail. He is now in custody the Bureau of Corrections, pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
