VI Police Shoot Armed Suspect on St. John
VI Police encountered an armed man while responding to an assault victim in the Estate Pastory area.

ST. JOHN, USVI — Virgin Islands police shot a suspect during a confrontation on St. John on Friday, April 23. The suspect has been identified as Alex Louis Camsel, age 46 of Estate Pastory. The incident occurred at approximately 8:44 a.m in the Estate Pastory area of St. John.
At the time, Police were responding to a woman who had recently been assaulted by the suspect. The woman reported that she was threatened and assaulted by Camsel in the Estate Pastory area. She reported that Camsel had thrown rocks at her and she sustained injuries to the back of her head and hand as a result.

Police were in the process of transporting the woman to the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center for treatment when they encountered Camsel walking along Centerline Road with a rifle. According to police, Camsel pointed his rifle at the officers when he was confronted and an unnamed officer discharged a single round, striking Camsel. Officers on the scene applied first aid and Camsel was transported to the Keating Smith Community Health Center and later to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center
Camsel underwent emergency surgery at Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center. He is in stable condition

Pending charges against Camsel include 1st Degree Assault, 3rd Degree Assault and Damage to Vehicle.
