ST. CROIX, USVI — Several women were accosted in downtown Christiansted on Thursday night, August 12. Two women were robbed by armed suspects and another two women were attacked during an attempted robbery, say police. The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating both incidents.

According to police, two female employees of Merina’s Food Truck were walking on Church Street when they say they were accosted by at least two armed suspects. One of the suspects grabbed one of the women from behind, dragged her to the ground, and took her valuables. Police say a second armed suspect took cash from the second victim. Both suspects fled the area towards Company Street.

Approximately twenty minutes later, police say two more victims were approached on the Christiansted Boardwalk by three young males. According to the police report, one of the men struck the female victim in the face and demanded her purse. The victim did not comply and after a brief struggle, the suspects fled the area.
