Here's what you need to know for Monday:
- Is it big news when a major yacht show comes to town? In the wake of a pandemic, the answer is yes. The 2021 Charter Yacht Show, hosted by the Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association, is scheduled for Nov. 7-10. The show brings brokers, yacht companies and buyers to the territory and they've stressed that the in-person events will require proof of vaccination. (US Virgin Islands Patch)
- Public schools are closed today. St. Thomas-St. John District will also be closed on Oct. 15 and the St. Croix District will be closed on Oct. 18. (US Virgin Islands Patch)

- And while it's not exactly local, the fact that there may be an at-home COVID-19 treatment is certainly relevant to the USVI. Merck, the major pharmaceutical company, says they have developed a pill that significantly helps people in the early stage of infection from becoming seriously ill or dying. The pharmaceutical company filed an application with the FDA to approve it for at-home use. (Virgin Islands Consortium)
