ACROSS AMERICA — A majority of unvaccinated Americans believe the COVID-19 vaccine may pose a greater risk to their health than the vaccine itself, according to a new poll conducted by Yahoo News and YouGov.

The poll, which surveyed 1,715 U.S. adults between July 13-15, found that 37 percent of respondents believe vaccines pose a greater health risk while 34 percent said they’re not sure. Only 29 percent believe the virus is more dangerous to their health than the vaccine.

The poll results come amid an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases across the United States, attributed mainly to the highly contagious delta variant. At this point, nearly all Americans who are being hospitalized or dying from COVID-19 complications — about 99 percent, according to some estimates — are unvaccinated.
