Delta Variant Will Infect Everyone Who’s Not Immune: Expert

ROCHESTER, MN — If you think you’re not going to contract COVID-19 because you haven’t already, a doctor from the Mayo Clinic is urging you to think again.

Gregory Poland, a top expert on vaccinations, is urging unvaccinated Americans to roll up their sleeves, warning that the highly contagious delta variant is a “very different variant.”

“It will find you,” Poland told CBS 4 Minnesota this week. ““This virus will find everybody who is not immune.”

Poland’s warning comes as the seven-day average for new coronavirus cases in the United States reaches 26,306, a nearly 70-percent increase from the week prior, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Hospitalizations are also up about 36 percent from last week after weeks of decline.
