Bernie Sanders Undergoes Medical Procedure For Artery Blockage

The Vermont senator was hospitalized after experiencing chest discomfort Tuesday evening.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Vermont Independent and a leading presidential candidate in the 2020 Democratic primary, was taken to the hospital and treated for an artery blockage on Tuesday and has canceled campaign events for the coming days, according to the New York Times.

Sanders experienced some chest discomfort during an event Tuesday evening, and following a medical evaluation was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted. Sanders, 78, was in the midst of traveling to a gun forum in Las Vegas, and was supposed to travel to California later in the week.
