Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wouldn't immediately say whether those security promises included withdrawing American troops from the Korean Peninsula, The Associated Press reported.
But Trump said Tuesday he would stop conducting joint military exercises with South Korea, describing them as “very provocative,” with negotiations still continuing, The Times reported.
Economic sanctions against North Korea will remain in place until the country does more, Trump said, but he also said he believed Kim would start denuclearization “very quickly.”
