Hurricane Relief: Former Presidents Expand Efforts To Aid Puerto Rico And US Virgin Islands

"Hurricanes and flooding have upended lives and livelihoods," says President Clinton.

The former presidents of the United States are expanding relief efforts started to help Texas and Florida in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma to also include Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands, which were devastated by Hurricane Maria. Money raised by the One America Appeal will be channeled to Unidos Por Puerto Rico and the Fund for the Virgin Islands.

"Hurricanes and flooding have upended lives and livelihoods," says President Clinton in a public service announcement they put together.

The presidents have set up a website — OneAmericaAppeal.Org — in which people can donate to general efforts or one of the three specific areas.

While the destruction in Florida and Texas has received a lot of the focus of relief efforts, there has been criticism of efforts to aid Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands.

The charity says that 100 percent of the money raised will go relief efforts.
