Trump Asks Supreme Court To Revive Travel Ban
If the justices take the case, they will decide whether Trump's campaign statements can be considered in deciding the legality of the ban.

The Trump Administration wants the Supreme Court to bless its plan to limit immigration from six predominantly-Muslim countries. The Justice department filed papers asking the High Court to overturn a 10-3 ruling last week by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit that kept the ban in place.
The administration also wants the justices to lift an injunction put in place by a federal judge in Hawaii. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals - which oversees Hawaii - has heard arguments in the case but not yet ruled.
The executive order would limit immigration from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

In its filing late Thursday, the administration argues that the appeals court erred in considering the president's campaign statements. They maintain that the judges should have only considered the lanuage of his executive order.
Five of the justices would have to vote to grant the administration's request. To do so, the justices, in theory, would have to believe the administration would suffer irreparable harm if the injunction remains in place and the administration is likely to win.
