Trump: Date, Location For North Korea Meeting 'Hasn't Changed'

Trump told reporters at the Oval Office late Saturday that they're still "looking at" the June 12th meeting in Singapore with Kim Jong Un.

WASHINGTON, DC — Days after President Donald Trump sent North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a letter canceling next month's face-to-face meeting, Trump hinted the meeting may still happen. Trump told reporters at the Oval Office late Saturday that they're still "looking at" the June 12th meeting in Singapore."

"That hasn't changed," he said.

The comment came as South Korean President Moon Jae-in said North Korea is still willing to end its nuclear program.

"What is unclear to Chairman Kim Jong Un is not the will for denuclearization, but the concern that if [North Korea] denuclearizes, whether the U.S. can end hostile relations and guarantee the security of the [Kim] regime," Moon said, according to CNN.

Moon and Kim unexpectedly met Saturday and agreed that a summit between North Korea and the U.S. should be held successfully, Moon reportedly said at a news conference in Seoul.

“Chairman Kim and I have agreed that the June 12 summit should be held successfully, and that our quest for the Korean peninsula’s denuclearization and a perpetual peace regime should not be halted,” Moon said, according to the Huffington Post.

In a letter Thursday to Kim, Trump axed the highly-anticipated summit "based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed" by the rogue country.

More talks are planned over the summit, the South Korean leader said on Sunday, according to CNN. Those discussions between America and North Korea will be held "very soon," he said, and will determine whether the June 12 meeting will happen.

Moon expects the discussions and potential summit will go "very smoothly."
