WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin indicated Sunday morning that the Trump administration and Congress are close to an agreement on a $400 billion-plus deal that would renew added funding for a small-business loan program, hospitals and more testing.

Mnuchin said in an interview on CNN that he hoped to see the agreement pass the Senate on Monday and the House on Tuesday.

"I think we're very close to a deal today. I'm hopeful that we can get that done," Mnuchin told CNN.

The deal would add close to $300 billion to the Paycheck Protection Program for small-businesses that ran out of funding three weeks after Congress passed it as part of a $2 trillion new coronavirus stimulus package.

Nearly 1.7 million loans have already been approved through the program, but thousands of small-business owners whose loans have not yet been processed are still waiting for the much-needed relief.
