Albert B. Pepper Jr. was born at City Hospital on Lafayette Ave. in St. Louis on December 5, 1961 when his grandfather owned a few tenements on Lafayette Ave. His parents first dwelling was a cold water flat on Shenandoah Ave. 1/2 block off S. Broadway from where his aunts would walk him to the Soulard Market and at times all the way to the River Front to board The S.S. Admiral while his mother was a teachers assistant at a catholic school on 12th. St.
