Come check out this FREE benefit concert in loving memory of Hayden C. Miles! 2026's eighth annual Strike a Chord will take place on Saturday, August 22nd, from 6:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the Memorial Park Amphitheater in La Grange Park, Illinois.Enjoy the performing bands and donate what you can to support Merit School of Music, a place that removes barriers to high-quality music education so that all children can experience the transformative power of music. The concert is open to the public and will be sponsored by A Sound Education, a music store in Brookfield, Illinois that not only sells instruments and gear, but offers lessons and repair services.To give a little bit more information about the event, Hayden was a young man in the community who went to Lyons Township High School. He was a kind and talented individual involved in many different activities, including Boy Scouts, archery, and band. He participated in concert band, marching band, pep band, jazz band, and pit orchestra, and was well known for his skill. After Hayden passed away in March of 2018, the first Strike a Chord for Hayden C. Miles Benefit Concert was planned and executed in August of 2019. The goal of these concerts is to set aside time to be together, listen to great music, help others, and remember Hayden. In honor of Hayden's love of music, all proceeds from each concert are donated to charities that support accessible music education, such as Merit School of Music, this year's beneficiary.Thank you, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out! The Academy of Music and Art in Westmont is excited to announce its Fall 2026 musical, The Addams Family <a href="mailto:Young@Part" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Young@Part</a>!
This production marks the Academy's 37th musical, continuing a tradition of providing children and teens with a fun, welcoming environment to discover the joy of musical theatre.
Open to performers ages 7&ndash;17, The Addams Family <a href="mailto:Young@Part" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Young@Part</a>&nbsp;is designed for students of all experience levels. Whether it's a child's very first audition or they've performed in previous productions, everyone is encouraged to participate.
"You don't need any special talents or previous theatre experience," said Academy Director Chris Wilson. "Our goal is to help students build confidence, make new friends, and discover a love for performing in a positive, supportive environment."
<h3>Everyone Gets a Part</h3>
One of the Academy's long-standing traditions is that everyone who auditions receives a role. Students gain experience in singing, acting, dancing, teamwork, and public speaking while working toward four public performances in November.
<h3>Free Audition Workshops</h3>
To help students feel comfortable and prepared, the Academy will host FREE Audition Workshops on Thursday, September 10.

7:00 PM &ndash; Returning Performers Workshop
</li>
</ul>
These workshops introduce students to the audition process, including singing, choreography, and audition tips in a fun, low-pressure setting.
