NJ Winter Kickoff & Teton Gravity Research's, "Actually, It Is Rocket Science"

My name is Amanda Adams, and I am proud to serve as President of the Randolph Township Board of Education. I am running for re-election because I believe deeply in the importance of public education, responsible financial stewardship, and the lasting value of strong schools.
For many New Jersey homeowners, education begins with a property tax bill. We see the numbers and understandably ask whether our dollars are being spent wisely. But there is another question worth considering: What are we building together through our investment in public education?
In New Jersey, property taxes, alongside state and federal funding, support the educators, programs, services, and facilities that make public education possible.
In Randolph, the results of that investment are visible.
Of the 339 graduates in Randolph High School's Class of 2026, 92% are pursuing higher education. Students completed a record 1,018 Advanced Placement examinations, with approximately 92% earning qualifying scores. Our district has also been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for 19 consecutive years.
But the value of education extends beyond academic statistics.
Our children experience school as a place where friendships are formed, confidence develops, talents emerge, and possibilities expand. Through specialized education, Unified programs, athletics, the arts, and career pathways, students discover who they are and what they can contribute to the world.
We are investing not only in our children's futures, but in the childhoods they are living right now.
That investment also matters to residents whose children have graduated or who have never had children in our schools.
Research shows that school quality can influence neighborhood desirability and property values. While housing markets depend on many factors, a district's educational reputation is one consideration for prospective homebuyers.
Strong public schools can therefore benefit an entire community, not just the families currently using them.
Our community-approved $41.4 million facilities referendum deepens that investment through renovations and improvements across every school in Randolph. From heating and cooling systems to restrooms and learning environments, these projects address aging infrastructure while helping preserve the buildings future generations will inherit.
This investment also demands accountability. As Board President, I believe fiscal responsibility means carefully managing resources, monitoring expenditures, planning for future needs, and respecting the financial commitments taxpayers make.
I recognize that rising property taxes place real pressure on families, especially those on fixed incomes. Maintaining excellent schools and exercising responsible financial oversight must remain shared priorities.
When previous generations invested in Randolph's schools, they created opportunities that today's children now experience. Our responsibility is to maintain those opportunities while preparing for those who will follow.
What a legacy to leave our children: not simply homes they might inherit, but a community whose value generations before them helped build. A place where they can establish roots, create opportunities, and someday invest in the next generation themselves.
Our schools are part of what we leave behind. Our children are part of what we send forward.
